About Us:

Penny & Wild was named after two rabbits that led to this rescue being created. The name is our way of carrying on Penny and Wild’s legacies and a reminder to ourselves about why we do what we do. You can read more about them below!
There is a huge need for rabbit rescue in South Florida. Every year there are many rabbits bought from pet stores that are no longer wanted, hundreds of rabbits abandoned in parks, neighborhoods, or in the middle of the street, massive hoarding cases full of rabbits with nowhere to go, Easter rabbits that are dumped outside, and so many more cases, some of which blow people away. Guinea pigs are also in a tough situation, requests come in for hundreds that need to be rehomed each and every year for a multitude of reasons.
We work hard to save every animal that we can. Because we are 100% foster-based, the number of animals that we save each year is contingent on the number of foster homes that open their hearts and homes to one or a few animals and show them love and safety until they find their forever homes. For every foster that opens their home even once, another animal is able to be saved and have a happy ever after. At any given time Penny and Wild has roughly 150 animals in our care and we appreciate each and every foster, donor, volunteer, and transporter that help us keep these animals safe!
